1988 Volkswagen Golf 2 Left-Hand 5MT 3-door Sunroof Restore Base

1988 Volkswagen Golf 2 with 1.8L engine, 223,021 km actual mileage, 3-door, left-hand drive, 5-speed manual transmission. Equipped with air conditioning, power steering, power windows, CD player, sunroof, and spare tire. Rare three-door left-hand manual with sunroof. Originally acquired running but has been non-operational while parked. Seller recently rebuilt shift linkage bushings using repro kit and got the shift to engage, but engine will not start—starter cranks fine. Two to three months ago the engine ran normally. Fuel pump may be faulty; no fuel reaching engine (confirmed with starter fluid). Left door was stuck but now opens; outer door handle is damaged and needs repair or replacement. Interior door panels removed. Tailgate damper inoperative. Sunroof has never been opened. Rust found in two spots below left quarter window and one spot in trunk floor. Recent heavy rain caused water leak into passenger rear floor area. Old Ettinger wheels are worn; tires are bad with valve caps stuck so inflation not possible. Sold as-is restoration base for builder; seller recommends in-person inspection. Temporary registration withdrawn; documents available. Battery not included.
